Welcome to Thailand, the Land of Smiles and the start of your Vegan Thailand Tour 😊
Today is arrival day, so your day is free to settle in, until 18:00 when we’ll meet up for a pre-trip info meeting and for everyone to meet each other. Afterwards, we’ll enjoy our first vegan meal together, ensuring a wonderful start to your tour.
Today we visit Bangkok’s Jewel, The Grand Palace, renowned for its beautiful Golden colour, intricate architecture and rich history, and explore the peaceful grounds of Wat Phra Kaew, home to the revered Emerald Buddha.
Experience a scenic cruise along the Chao Phraya River aboard a traditional long-tail boat, passing stilted houses, temples, and vibrant river life. A delicious vegan-friendly lunch will be served during your cultural exploration.
Climb aboard a tuk-tuk and experience Bangkok’s lively streets up close. This half-day adventure takes you to some of the city’s hidden gems, including colorful markets, historic neighborhoods, and vibrant cultural sites.
Along the way, enjoy tastings of vegan-friendly snacks from local vendors, offering a unique glimpse into Bangkok’s street food scene.
This morning we take a short 1.5 hour journey south to the riverside town of Amphawa to experience the charm of the famous floating markets. Explore the canals by boat, stopping at vibrant stalls offering tropical fruits, handcrafted goods, and local delicacies.
With its laid-back atmosphere and traditional setting, this visit offers a fascinating look into Thailand’s river-based way of life.
Today we visit the famous Mae Klong Railway Market. Vendors seamlessly move their stalls aside as trains pass through the narrow market, not much wider than the trains themselves. It’s a unique experience that perfectly showcases Thailand’s vibrant local culture.
In the evening, we board an overnight train bound for Chiang Mai in the North of Thailand. Our train passes through some of Thailand’s most dramatic scenery including amazing, lush jungles. We’ll spend a couple of hours enjoying the scenery and this unique experience before settling down to relax and sleep in our private full length beds. While we can’t promise the best night’s sleep, the experience is truly unique and unforgettable.
Upon arrival in Chiang Mai, we’ll take a short drive to our hotel, where we’ll enjoy breakfast at a nearby vegan cafe, settle in and take a short break to recharge. In the afternoon, we’ll take a short trip out of Chiang Mai to visit Doi Suthep, one of Northern Thailand’s most revered temples. Perched on a hillside, the temple offers panoramic views of Chiang Mai and the surrounding countryside. Wander through its golden pagodas and intricate carvings while learning about its cultural significance before watching the sunset reflecting off the golden temples.
Today’s highlight is a deeply meaningful visit to the Friends of the Asian Elephant Hospital, a groundbreaking facility near Chiang Mai dedicated to the care and rehabilitation of elephants.
As one of the first and only truly responsible elephant care facilities in Thailand, this non-profit organization is committed to the ethical treatment of these majestic creatures, offering medical care and sanctuary without any exploitation or profit motives. The hospital’s work is a shining example of compassion in action, from treating injuries caused by logging and tourism industries to providing a peaceful refuge for elephants in need.
During our visit, we’ll gain insight into the hospital’s pioneering efforts, meet some of the elephants under their care, and learn about the challenges and triumphs of protecting these gentle giants. For animal lovers and vegans alike, this visit offers a chance to support a cause that aligns with our values, advocating for the welfare and dignity of all living beings. We’re leaving Chiang Mai for the night and heading to Chiang Saen in the infamous Golden Triangle where Thailand, Myanmar and Laos converge, for a day of discovery. On route, we visit the Northern Highlands and a local tea plantation to see how Thai tea is cultivated, and stop by a hill tribe village to gain insight into local traditions and ways of life.
We end the day at our hotel in the Golden Triangle. Time permitting we can visit the Opium museum which showcases the region’s infamous history. This culturally rich experience provides a deeper understanding of the region’s history and heritage.
After breakfast we make our way back to Chiang Mai, via the city of Chiang Rai to visit the White Temple (Wat Rong Khun), an extraordinary modern temple in total contrast to those seen so far. This amazing temple stands out for its unique design and symbolic artwork. Stroll through its gleaming halls and capture some unforgettable photos before returning to Chiang Mai for a relaxed evening.
Today we bit a fond farewell to Northern Thailand and its abundance of culture and history, to fly south to Phuket, Thailand’s tropical getaway and some of the best beaches that Thailand is famous for. Upon arrival, we’ll take time to settle into our hotel.
Phuket offers a change of pace with its laid-back atmosphere and coastal beauty, and your afternoon is free to relax, explore, or simply unwind on the beach. In the late afternoon, we’ll enjoy a hands-on vegan Thai cooking class to learn how to prepare and cook vegan versions of some of Thailand most iconic dishes.
Later, we’ll enjoy the fruits of our labor as we dine together in a relaxed and friendly setting.
Let’s spend the day exploring some of the Andaman Sea’s most beautiful islands by boat. Visit pristine beaches, swim in clear turquoise waters, and enjoy snorkeling opportunities to see vibrant marine life.
A vegan-friendly lunch will be provided, making this a refreshing and scenic adventure in one of Thailand’s most stunning regions.
Enjoy your final full day in Thailand with leisure time to explore or relax as you wish. In the evening, join the group for an included farewell dinner at a local vegan-friendly restaurant.
Share memories of the trip, savor the flavors of Phuket’s cuisine, and toast to a journey well spent and new friends made.
